Medical Case Summary
During a live CTO case at the JIF CTO Congress in France, Dr. Benjamin Faurie from Lyon successfully managed a complex case of severe stenosis in the right coronary artery (RCA). 
The procedure initially began with an antegrade approach, but attempts to advance the guidewire through the heavily calcified chronic total occlusion (CTO) were unsuccessful.
The team then decisively switched to a retrograde strategy, meticulously navigating the guidewire via the left coronary artery to reach the RCA, ultimately achieving successful retrograde crossing of the lesion.
Following this critical step, the Doctor utilized a 4.0×15 mm ShockFast IVL (Intravascular Lithotripsy) catheter to treat the heavily calcified segment in the RCA.
The performance of ShockFast IVL catheter was outstanding — it successfully crossed the same severely calcified stenosis where even an IVUS catheter had previously failed to advance, demonstrating its exceptional deliverability.
After delivering intravascular lithotripsy energy, the calcified plaque was effectively modified, resulting in excellent luminal expansion.
